Lately, I was waking up already overwhelmed. The kind of tired that isn't just physical — it’s mental and emotional too. I start scrolling before I even leave bed. My brain fills with other people’s lives, other people’s noise, and before I’ve even taken a deep breath, the pressure kicks in.
I have goals. I have things I care about. But my habits haven't been reflecting any of that — and honestly, it’s been showing. So I’m in the middle of a reset. Not a dramatic overhaul. Just small shifts. Thoughtful steps. A quieter return to myself.
And in case you’re feeling a bit off too, I want to share what’s helping me — in real time.
1. I’m Protecting My Mornings Again
I used to treat mornings like a warm-up for the chaos — checking notifications, jumping into work, skipping anything that didn’t feel “productive.”
But I’ve been slowly reclaiming that time.
Right now, my mornings look like this:
- A slow cup of coffee
- A few quiet moments with my family before the day begins
- A workout to get out of my head and into my body
- Reading my Bible and spending time in prayer
- Journaling, and loosely mapping out what I want the day to feel like
It’s not perfect every morning, but it’s grounding. And honestly, it’s been one of the biggest shifts in my energy lately.
2. I’m Letting Go of the Pressure to Fix Everything
When I feel off, my instinct is to fix everything at once — all the habits, all the routines, all the things I’ve been “falling behind” on. But that only leads to more overwhelm.
So I’m starting smaller.
Instead of trying to master a new routine, I’m asking simple questions like:
→ What’s the one thing I can do today that would make me feel more clear?
→ What can I let go of right now to create space?
One intentional moment is enough. And when I give myself that space, I tend to find my way back more gently.
3. I’m Rebuilding Trust With Myself
There’s been a gap lately between what I say I’ll do and what actually happens.
I write things down, make plans — and then… life. Distraction. Delay.
It’s not about guilt. But I’ve realized I don’t feel as confident when I’m constantly breaking tiny promises to myself.
So I’ve been practicing follow-through in really small ways.
- Keeping my word on a 10-minute task
- Finishing things without making it perfect
- Showing up even when I don’t feel “ready”
And every time I do, I feel more grounded — like I’m earning back my own trust, one small win at a time.
4. I’m Returning to Anchor Habits
Some habits make everything else feel easier — and I know what mine are.
I just haven’t been protecting them.
For me, these include:
- Weekly reset time
- Morning quiet (without my phone)
- Moving my body
- Checking in with my emotions through journaling and prayer
I’ve been slowly weaving these back in. Not because I have to, but because I feel the difference when they’re missing.
When I return to these small anchors, the rest of my life feels more manageable — even when it’s busy.
5. I’m Acting Like the Person I Want to Become
This part has been the most personal. I’ve been paying attention to how often I put off what matters in favor of what’s urgent — and how much that disconnect wears on me.
So instead of waiting until I “feel ready” or “have more time,” I’m asking:
→ What would the version of me I want to become do today?
And then I try to do just that. Not perfectly. Just honestly.
Sometimes the answer is:
-
Eat a nourishing meal
-
Say no to something I don’t have capacity for
-
Choose presence over pressure
These tiny choices create quiet alignment. And that’s what I’ve been craving.
That quiet alignment is what I’ve been craving — and I’m finding it in these small, everyday choices.
Final Thoughts: I’m Not Behind. I’m In Progress.
This reset isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about reconnecting with myself — gently, consistently, and with intention.
I’m still in it. Still figuring things out. Still letting go of the pressure to be perfectly productive or completely “together.”
But what I know for sure is this:
When I slow down, listen inward, and take small, clear steps… I feel like myself again.
So if you’re feeling off too, you’re not alone. You’re not behind. You’re just being invited to pause, realign, and move forward with more clarity. One small shift at a time.
